Julie Soars

Julie specialises in commercial disputes, particularly those with an international element. She is an accredited arbitrator and mediator, and has lectured in international dispute resolution and international trade law at UTS.

Prior to being called to the Bar, Julie worked for 6 years as a solicitor in London and Hong Kong with Herbert Smith, specialising in international arbitration and international litigation. She started her career in Sydney as a commercial litigation solicitor with Freehill, Hollingdale and Page and Norton Smith & Co.

Julie has been recognised as one of Australia’s leading Alternative Dispute Resolution lawyers since 2012 through to 2016 in The Best Lawyers in Australia.

Julie is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and of ACICA, has been a board member of CIArb Australia since 2012 and was its company secretary from 2012 to 2015.
