Overview

Adrian’s practice is focused on and specialises in causes of action in the Land and Environment Court. Adrian also appears in the Supreme Court and other Courts and Tribunals in New South Wales, Tasmania and the ACT in Land Law causes of action, and also in the New South Wales Court of Appeal in Land Law appeals.

A significant component of work undertaken in the Land and Environment Court is in the Administrative Law jurisdiction (Class 4 judicial review). Adrian is regularly briefed in causes of action involving State Government decisions. In addition, a major component of work concerns the compulsory acquisition and land valuation jurisdiction of the Court (Class 3). He is also frequently engaged in the planning merit review jurisdiction of the Court (Class 1), and has acted both for the prosecutor and for the defence in criminal environmental law trials in the Land and Environment Court (Class 5).

Adrian was formerly Environmental Counsel to the Environment Protection Authority (December 2013 and following), and was formerly Member, Local Government Pecuniary Interest & Disciplinary Tribunal (May 2007 – 2013) and Member, Aboriginal Land Councils Pecuniary Interest & Disciplinary Tribunal (October 2008 – 2013) until their amalgamation into NCAT.
