Overview

The Hon. Stephen Robb KC was a trial judge of the Supreme Court of New South Wales between June 2013 and February 2024. He was appointed to the Equity Division and sat principally in General Equity, dealing with general commercial and contract cases, real property, trusts and succession as well as some corporations law matters.

He was admitted to the degree of Bachelor of Arts in 1973 and Bachelor of Laws (Hons 1) in 1976 by the University of Sydney and was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW in 1976. He lectured at the University of Sydney both in the Law of Contract and Private International Law during the period from 1976 to 1980.

He was admitted to the NSW Bar in 1978 and appointed a Queens Counsel in 1992. His practice was, for the majority of that time, conducted from 7 Selborne Chambers.

He enjoyed an extensive and general commercial practice at the Bar, principally in the Supreme and Federal Courts, at trial and on appeal, and appeared in appeals to the High Court of Australia. He practised in general commercial and equity matters, trade practices and consumer law, regulation, corporations, insolvency, trusts, insurance, professional negligence and some building and construction matters.

He has recently returned to private practice and will accept appointments as a mediator, arbitrator and referee. He will also provide neutral evaluations and expert determinations in appropriate matters.
